ROUND 17 MATCH REPORT: ROSSO NERO FC vs. V RAVIOLI
A tough night at the office for Rosso Nero FC, but a game defined by grit, character, and an incredible second-half fightback.
Team News & Lineup
With Christian unavailable, Luke Da Silva stepped up to make his official debut. The full lineup featured Adem, Amir (making his long-awaited return after eight weeks out with a concussion), CJ, Dan, Joel, and Luke.
First Half: Caught on the Back Foot
Disaster struck early as traffic delays left us starting a man short - facing a sharp Ravioli side with just five players and zero substitutes for the opening 10 minutes.
Despite an initial bright start controlling possession, Ravioli capitalised on the extra space. Overlapping runs left untracked opened the floodgates, with Ravioli striking three quick goals to put us down 3-0 early.
Rosso Nero FC snapped back to life with a moment of brilliant team play. Swift, one-touch passing shifted the defense from left to right and back again, finding Dan, who buried a first-time finish into the bottom corner.
We pressed hard to narrow the gap, rattling the woodwork twice in quick succession. However, luck was firmly on Ravioli’s side; a fortunate bounce set up a 1-v-1 to make it 4-1.
Amir finally made his entrance 11 minutes in, immediately organising the backline and lifting the team's energy. A late defensive turnover gifted Ravioli a 3-v-1 counter, sending us into the break trailing 5-1.
Second Half: The Comeback Effort
The halftime message was simple: mark up on the overlap, clinical finishing, and keep fighting.
Ravioli struck first after the restart with a lightning-fast counter, firing a rocket that CJ got a hand to before it deflected in for 6-1.
From that point on, it was all Rosso Nero FC.
Attack after attack pounded the Ravioli goal. We hit the post, struck the upright, and forced their keeper into a series of miraculous saves.
The breakthrough finally came from debutant Luke Da Silva, who unleashed a absolute bullet from halfway straight into the top corner.
Moments later, Luke won the ball high up, forcing another top-tier save, before Amir saw his shot blocked from the resulting corner.
The pressure paid off again shortly after. A quick play switch landed for Dan, whose effort trickled past the keeper off the inside of the post to make it 6-3 with four minutes on the clock.
With momentum fully on our side, every player pushed forward hunting the miracle comeback. With just 10 seconds remaining and everyone committed to the attack, Ravioli caught us on a final counter-attack to seal the match.
Final Score: Ravioli 7 – 3 Rosso Nero FC
On another night, those hits off the post go in and the story is completely different. Tonight belonged to Ravioli, but the fight, spirit, and second-half determination from the boys was second to none.
