Semi-Final Heartbreak: Rosso Nero FC Fights to the Final Whistle

What an absolute rollercoaster of a week! With Semi-Final excitement in the air, the build-up was intense. Getting our lineup set took a bit of juggling with several regulars missing or unwell, but we locked in our squad: Adem, Amir, CJ, Dan, Fati, Joel, and Nic.

A massive shoutout to the lads for stepping up under tough circumstances - Dan played through illness, Joel made his return from COVID, and Amir was back on the pitch after four weeks out. Everyone was pumped and ready to give it everything.

Tough First Half

We came out looking to control the tempo, but we struggled to settle into our usual rhythm. Truth be told, it was a first-half shocker. Rosso Nero FC just wasn't on song early on, and Ravioli took full advantage. They struck first, then added a second, and before we knew it, a third crept past us as we struggled to track their runners. With seven minutes left in the half, they slotted home a fourth.

Down 4–0, we finally found our footing late in the half. We created our first real attempt, followed by a couple more quick shots, but couldn't quite find the target before the whistle blew.

Half-Time Score: Rosso Nero FC 0 – 4 Ravioli

The Half-Time Message: Track the runners, take our shots, and get them on target. Simple as that.

The Second-Half Charge

Rosso Nero FC came out for the second half in full control and on a mission. We suffocated them with high pressure on the ball and attacked with real intent.

The comeback was officially sparkled by a brilliant sideline kick-in play: Adem laid the ball off perfectly to Nic, who launched a absolute thunderbolt into the back of the net! Goal 1 within minutes.

That goal lifted the entire team, and the momentum shifted completely. Just three minutes later, we struck again - bringing it to 4–2 with 12 minutes on the clock. The fightback was well and truly on!

Dramatic Finish

We poured relentless pressure on Ravioli's defense. The intensity boiled over with heavy fouls on Fati going uncalled. With seven minutes left, we slammed home what should have been our third goal to make it a one-goal game... only for the referee to disallow it.

Shortly after, Amir picked up a yellow card for retaliation following a tackle, leaving us a man down for two minutes. Despite the numerical disadvantage, the boys showed incredible composure, holding possession and controlling the game until we were back at full strength.

With time ticking down, we launched attack after attack, creating chance after chance, but the final touch just kept narrowly missing the target. In the final 10 seconds, CJ pushed all the way up for a late corner to throw everything at it. Unfortunately, the corner was intercepted, and a long-range counter-attack in the dying seconds sealed the game.

Final Score: Loss 5–2.

Head Held High

While it's a disappointing result to end our cup run, we couldn't be prouder of the fighting spirit on display. The team never gave up for a single second. Even when key calls didn't go our way, the squad dug deep and fought until the final whistle.

We have one final game next week - a friendly to round out the campaign as we begin our preparation for next season.
