Match Report: Round 1 – Rosso Nero FC vs. Red Roos
🔴🖤 Match Report: Round 1 – Rosso Nero FC vs. Red Roos
With the grading season officially behind us, Rosso Nero FC has officially landed in Division 1 and what a way to kick off the season!
Lineup
Squad: Adem, CJ, Dan, Dril, Fati, and Nic
Absent: Amir, Christian, and Joel
First Half: Flying Start & Defensive Battles
The game kicked off in dramatic fashion! Just seconds into the match, CJ launched a long ball up the pitch, which Dan caught beautifully on the volley over his shoulder to notch our very first goal of the season. It happened so fast that our cameraman hadn't even started recording yet!
Our second goal followed soon after, but as the half wore on, the Red Roos settled into the match and began putting on the pressure. They hammered shots from all angles, but our defensive line stood tall, with CJ pulling off crucial saves in goal to keep them at bay. Both keepers were making big plays and doing just enough to throw off the strikers in a tight, physical contest where neither side gave an inch.
Red Roos eventually capitalised on an error when a low pass out from CJ was intercepted and quickly countered, resulting in a swift switch of play and a goal.
Despite the opposition goalkeeper pulling off a series of incredible saves to deny us, Rosso Nero FC kept pushing. With just seconds left on the clock, we produced a fantastic team goal: Fati used some fancy footwork to draw the keeper to the ground before unselfishly laying it off for a simple tap-in. The half-time whistle blew just three seconds later!
Half-Time Score: Rosso Nero FC 3 – 1 Red Roos
Second Half: A Goal-Fest & A Fiery Comeback
The second half started with a chaotic stretch.
From the restart, a couple of cheap giveaways allowed Red Roos to pounce instantly, scoring twice within a minute to level the game at 3–3.
Shortly after, a quick kick-in caught our defense sleeping, putting us down 4–3.
Rosso Nero FC woke up and created three quick chances, but the Red Roos' keeper continued his stellar form. Riding their momentum, Red Roos added another to extend their lead to 5–3 with 13 minutes remaining.
Then came the response.
Showing tremendous grit and team spirit, the boys controlled the next 7 minutes with relentless running. A double from Fati, alongside goals from Dril and Nic, dramatically flipped the scoreline to put us ahead 7–6 with 5 minutes left. Moments later—BANG!—we buried our 8th goal, effectively breaking the Red Roos' momentum.
Red Roos fought back with a 6th goal, but Rosso Nero FC sealed the victory with three more rapid-fire finishes to stretch the lead to 10–6. With just one minute remaining, Red Roos managed a late 7th goal with a quick low shot, bringing an end to a wild, high-scoring second half.
Final Score
🏆 Rosso Nero FC 10 – 7 Red Roos
