Week Recap: v Siege FC in 16 Goal Thriller!
Grading Game 2: Rosso Nero FC v Siege FC
What a match! Game 2 of our grading fixtures brought absolute drama, relentless high tempo, and incredible team spirit from start to finish.
A Pre-Game Test of Grit
Going into the game with a tight squad of 7 players, we were hit with a late setback just 60 minutes before kick-off when Joel had to pull out for family reasons. With Amir also sidelined, we lined up with a determined squad of six: Adem, Christian, CJ, Dan, Dril, and Fati.
Seeing Siege FC field 7 fit, young players, we knew right away we were in for a high-octane battle. They were built to run for the full game and from the opening whistle, that’s exactly what they did.
First Half: A Fast-Paced Battle
The opening minutes were a tight tussle with both sides pressing hard in attack. Siege FC struck first, capitalising on a quick counter with a cross to a late runner who slotted it home. 1 shot on target, 1 goal.
Rosso Nero FC responded quickly! Some neat combination passing tore open the Siege FC defense for a clinical tap-in to draw us level.
However, Siege FC caught fire shortly after. A rapid string of attacks saw their next four shots on target all find the back of the net - each finish tucked neatly into the corners just out of our keeper’s reach, largely coming off switches of play to an open player on the far side.
Undeterred, Rosso Nero FC settled down, regained composure, and pulled one back right before the break.
Half-Time Score: 5 - 2 to Siege FC.
The team talk was simple: track the runners and take our chances.
Second Half: Late Drama
We came out firing in the second half! Within the opening seconds, simple, sharp passing led to another tap-in goal. Despite dominating the next five minutes and creating several unrewarded chances, our persistence paid off - another goal built on neat passing brought us right back into the game at 5-4 with 10 minutes to play.
Siege FC struck back against the run of play, catching a long ball off their keeper that their striker brilliantly volleyed over his shoulder into the bottom corner to make it 6-4.
That’s when the legendary Rosso Nero FC team spirit truly kicked in.
We locked in and rallied for three unanswered goals, charging into the lead at 7-6 with just 4 minutes remaining!
Siege FC weren't done yet, answering back with 2 minutes left to level the score once again at 7-7.
With time ticking down, Siege FC launched a dangerous counter off a long low ball from their keeper. CJ sprinted out of goal onto the field, winning two massive tackles to break up the attack and push the ball forward, earning us a corner. Off the corner, Siege FC’s keeper pulled off a huge save to keep them in it, but Fati pounced on the clearance, intercepted, and slotted home our 8th goal!
With 1 minute on the clock, Siege FC threw everything forward but missed the target. From the restart, a quick short pass found Adem, who played it down the line with only 10 seconds remaining. Dril switched the play to Fati, who returned the ball seamlessly for Dril to finish in style!
Final Score: Rosso Nero FC 9 - 7 Siege FC
