Rd 2 Rosso Nero FC v NeoCats

Round 2 was meant to be a bye… until late changes to the league meant we were suddenly called up to play.

And with Dan unavailable, Jon still unwell from last week, Mazen called into work, and Christian copping a knock the night before, we were staring at a three‑player lineup.

But this club never goes quietly.

The boys rang around and rallied hard — Adem returned after last week, and we welcomed two new debutants: Arnie and Joel.

A brand‑new Rosso Nero look, but the same heart.

And of course, the scriptwriters had fun with this one: our opponents were last year’s semi‑final rivals, still stinging from that last‑second extra‑time heartbreak we handed them.

First Half – Free‑Flowing Football and Chaos

From the opening whistle, the new‑look Rosso Nero side played with pure joy.

One‑touch passing, movement, triangles everywhere — every attack carved them open.

Our third attack brought our first goal, and we looked in total control.

But Neocats hit back on a counter, pushing three forward and stretching our defence.

1–1.

No panic.

Next attack, more slick passing, ball moved side to side, and a simple back‑post tap‑in restored the lead.

2–1 Rosso Nero.

For the next four minutes we dominated — four chances saved by their keeper — but football can be cruel.

On their next counter, another 3v1 left us short and they equalised.

2–2.

From kick‑off, the boys responded instantly, slicing through and finishing the move.

3–2 up.

But we lost our defensive shape, and Neocats found a freakish equaliser — CJ got hands to it, somehow it still went in.

3–3.

Straight from our restart we pushed again, but another quick counter caught us and Neocats took the lead.

3–4.

Half‑time arrived at the perfect moment.

Team talk:

Take our chances.

Drop quicker.

Stop the counters.

Second Half – Tiki‑Taka, Pressure, and Pure Heart

The boys came out firing.

Rosso Nero played tiki‑taka futsal — 1–2 touch, pass‑and‑move, threading balls through gaps that barely existed.

Shots flew in but were blocked, deflected, or saved.

The pressure finally paid off: with nine minutes left, we smashed home the equaliser.

4–4.

But from Neocats’ kick‑off, we switched off for a moment.

A lucky bounce fell to an open attacker who finished bottom corner.

4–5 down, seven minutes left.

No stress.

The team lifted again — pressing, tackling, chasing everything.

Five minutes left, another equaliser.

5–5.

Neocats pushed hard, and CJ produced three massive saves — two in open play and one from the corner — keeping us alive.

And then… the moment.

Last minute.

Rosso Nero pushing.

And just like the semi‑final, we shattered Neocats’ hearts again — a beautiful team goal with 20 seconds left on the clock.

6–5 Rosso Nero.

A perfect finish to a game we dominated for long stretches.

Full‑Time Thoughts

This was Rosso Nero FC at its finest:

heart, resilience, teamwork, and that never‑give‑up attitude that defines this club.

With three players available at midday and a full squad on court by kickoff, this win sits right up there with one of our best.

Huge congratulations to the new boys — Arnie and Joel — who slotted in brilliantly.

See you all next week for Game 3.
