For the second time this season, we fielded a full squad, ready to build on last week's draw and, more importantly, keep our cool. We were determined to focus on our game, ignoring any questionable referee calls.
And we started brilliantly! From the opening whistle, our ball movement was sharp, and our defensive pressure was intense. Nuno struck early, netting a fantastic goal within the first three minutes. CJ nearly doubled the lead with a powerful low shot that just missed the target.
Our high-pressure approach forced the opposition into desperate tactics, including a series of wild fouls and the use of elbows. This sparked a fiery response from Rosso Nero FC, causing us to momentarily lose our defensive shape and concede two goals.
We went into halftime trailing 2-1, but we knew that if we kept our composure, victory was within reach. However, the game's intensity and the constant fouls were testing our patience.
The second half was marred by even more fouls, eventually leading to a yellow card for the opposition. With a man advantage, we capitalised, scoring our second goal. This, however, only fueled the opposition's dangerous tackles and elbowing tactics.
With eight minutes remaining, Dan scored our third goal, putting us in the lead. But the relentless fouls finally took its toll. Ant, after being elbowed in the back and then the head, lost his cool and received a yellow card, resulting in a two-minute sin bin.
Ant, needing time to calm down, stayed off the pitch, and the team managed to control the final five minutes, securing the win.
Even after the final whistle, the opposition's aggression continued, with one player running into Nuno's shoulder. Nathan attempted to defuse the situation, but the opposition's sole intent was to fight. CJ wisely pulled Nathan away, as we simply wanted to leave and get some fresh air.
Final result: Rosso Nero FC 3, Opposition 2. Our first win of the season!
