Round 2: A Valiant Effort

Round 2 saw Rosso Nero FC facing a significant challenge, with four regular players sidelined due to injuries and holidays. This meant a makeshift lineup and, critically, no substitutes.

CJ stepped up in goal, while Alex and Dan were joined by debutants Jon and Aiden Allen, a father-son duo.

The first half was a hard-fought battle. CJ made crucial saves to keep the team in contention, and the team played a tight, disciplined game. We conceded the first goal, a deflected shot that wrong-footed CJ. However, Alex quickly responded with an equalizer.

The game continued to swing back and forth, with CJ making more impressive saves and Dan, Aiden, and Alex coming close with their attempts. In the final five minutes of the first half, the opposition managed to score two more goals, giving them a 3-1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, we knew we had a chance if we maintained our shape and capitalised on our opportunities.

We started strongly, scoring early to narrow the gap to one goal. For the next eight minutes, we went toe-to-toe with the opposition. However, fatigue began to set in, and the opposition managed to score four unanswered goals in the final six minutes.

The final score was 7-2.

Despite the result, it was a fantastic effort from the players. We were unlucky to have no substitutes to see the game out, but we're incredibly proud of the team's performance and determination.

See you all next week for game 3!
