WEEKLY MATCH REPORT - Game 7 vs Merendinho

With Gabe unavailable this week and Jayden making his return, we lined up for our third straight match against a top-of-the-table opponent — and the only team to beat us this season. Dressed in our Black Umbro clash kit and with a point to prove, we hit the pitch full of intensity.

First Half — End-to-End Chaos

The opening 12 minutes were tight and tense, both sides pressing hard. Merendinho struck first, but we hit back within seconds. They found a second soon after, and again we equalised within minutes.

We thought we’d taken the lead when we buried our third, but after initially awarding the goal, the referee overturned the decision. Moments later a deflected Merendinho strike wrong-footed our keeper, putting them ahead again — but, true to the rhythm of the match, we equalised yet again.

From there the rest of the half was high pressure, tough tackles, and little breathing room for either side.

Second Half — Holding Firm

The second half continued at the same relentless pace. Tackle after tackle, both teams pressing across every blade of grass. Despite the pressure, we held strong and refused to concede.

With five minutes left, we finally broke through and took the lead. The game only intensified from there — fierce challenges, constant whistles, and neither side giving an inch. Knowing a one-goal buffer wasn’t enough, we pushed for another. With a minute left, Jayden calmly slotted home our fifth.

Merendinho responded immediately, countering with 38 seconds remaining. Nuno instinctively threw up a hand to block the ball, earning a straight red. Before he could leave the pitch, Merendinho attempted a quick free kick — which Nuno intercepted — forcing the referee to halt play and insist he exit. A second free kick followed with 8 seconds left, and with the game effectively won, we dropped all players behind the ball to secure the two-goal victory.

Final Whistle — Another Top-Table Killer

A huge result against another league leader, further cementing our position inside the top four.
